The Washington, DC Council, on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 will present a resolution to proclaim the month of January Guns Aside month in the District of Columbia. Guns Aside is an initiative under the auspices of ROOT (Reaching Out to Others Together) Inc. to directly address the epidemic of gun violence occurring in our city and throughout the nation.
The resolution, introduced by Councilmember Adrian Fenty, Ward 4, will commemorate the outstanding efforts of ROOT, Inc. and its proactive campaign to reduce gun violence and homicides in the District of Columbia.
Further, the council agrees to support ROOT and its founder and CEO Kenneth E. Barnes, Sr., MS, in its proactive campaign to reducing incidents of gun violence and homicides in Washington, DC, and surrounding communities.
